The US military is focused on emerging technologies to enable Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) in GPS-denied environments. A recent Army analysis of battlefield networks will study the extent to which its flagship combat Satcom and radio network (Army's WIN-T Inc. 2t) can be “hardened” and made more resilient against the kinds of electronic warfare and cyberattacks likely to occur in a major-power, near-peer type mechanized war. Critics of the network are raising questions as to its ability to perform necessary combat functions amid jamming, electromagnetic interference, and cyber attacks from a technologically advanced enemy.
Capabilities such as non-GPS satellite time and location, low probability intercept/low probability of detection (LPI/LPD), pseudolites, enhanced communication of EW threats & other developments will eliminate the threat to PNT and enhance situational awareness across the battlefield. GPS Source has been collaborating with industry partners to fully develop these capabilities. Looking for a solution? GPS Source understands the importance of PNT Assurance in military ops and the need to have access to PNT (whether GPS is accessible or not). Contact us to explore options for both legacy GPS and future technology applications, including accurate Positioning, Navigation and Timing solutions that will work without GPS.
